98hotrodfatboy hit it on the head about the top of the piston cutouts. The larger cutout will be for the intake valve clearance, so the arrow should point to the exhaust. As you can see in the pic, the red line is for the larger cutout and is longer than the smaller cut out. If using the cam marking on the piston, then this piston would be put on the rear cylinder.
Thanks Dan the way this guy had them marked one arrow would go front and one to the back. But when i called him he said the arrow went to the rear and the divot on the pin boss was cam side. So now i am hopping the bottom end is right. I know the sprocket shaft seal is in backwards. and the rings he sent me are wrong they are for a twin cam. Hell i could have screwed up this on my own and saved money.
These will work in a 1997 evo right I know you said they for a early evo. this guy must have old stock from some were. But this piston has jcc stamped on the inside and jcc makes pistons in Taiwan.
It has hd stamped inside but not the trademark beside it like all of the oem pistons i have but it also has jcc stamped in there. Jcc is a company that makes piston in Taiwan. After a email to them They make piston for different company's and was no help. But will not tell me if they made pistons for hd.
Ok i called the guy back and they are not oem piston and made in Taiwan. Was told again heavy side to the cam side and he has put them in that way for 23 years.
