Default LCD Display, Odometer

Found an Speedometer with a working LCD display today. It came from a '96 FLSTC.
Got it fairly cheap.

Took it apart and switched the good LCD over to my bleeding display on my '98 FXDWG.

The job was easy thanks to information found on this forum.

Donor Speedometer.

Bad LCD Display.

Result!

Looks good! Where did you find the info on how to do it? Tech section? I could be interested in doing it to my ‘98 WG too if I can find one. Also did it keep your mileage or did it keep the other bikes mileage?

I only switched the LCD-display.
So the milage stays as it was.

If I had changed the complete speedometer the milage would show the value that the donor bike had.

The job is straight forward.
Just find an instrument with a good LCD.
'96-'99 EVO.
Mine donor had -96A as the last figures in the label at the back and came from a FLSTC.

There were differences in the wiring, idiotlights and the instrument facia.
But as I only planned to switch out the LCD-display those differences did not matter.

Our EVO bikes with mechanical (obviously) or electronic speedometers store the milage in the instrument.

Nice work! I did this a few years ago and the screen is still doing fine!
