‘92 FXSTC dumped all oil mid ride

Do a compression test before you tear into anything , usually when one does what yours did it blew the rings or a hole in a piston , what it isn’t is the oil pump unless it ate something when the real issue happened.

The OP said it was riding fine, no weird noises...

A non scavenging pump will empty the oil tank into the crankcases, then oil will blow out the breather hose.

The crankcases are still probably full of oil.

Could the breather bolts not being aligned properly have an effect?

Did you run the compression check?

AutoZone will loan you the tool.

A stock configuration 1992 model did not have breather bolts. It breathes from the crankcase.

Doesn't really matter at this point.

You should have enough posts to upload pics by now. Post some, particularly of the spot on the heads where the carb back plate attaches.
