Default Rear Axle Question

For a stock 1984 FXRT, can you tell me what the length of the axle is? End of thread to bottom of hex head?
Thank you.

Yes. You'd have to reduce the total length number I posted by the length of the hex head.

If I recall, the Evo Sportster, at least 1987 vintage, has a narrower swingarm than a big twin. I could go measure one and a '86 FLHT if it is that important. I was going to put a belt drive on the 883 back in about 88 or so. I think it was Primo that had some pulleys and a belt for them, but it required heating the swingarm and spreading it apart, then using a longer axle from a big twin. I bought the axle, had a hydraulic jack for it, was getting ready to buy the pulleys and belt when HD came out with a bolt on kit that didn't need any swingarm changes and had everything needed, so I went that route instead.

That may be... I have Little experience with 4-speed Sportsters that are not Ironheads...The Axle in the 5-speed Sporty must be the same tho as the typical Big twins, as I certainly interchanged them..
