That wasn't neglect or abuse. My first spoke broke around 20K, that rear wheel has about 35k before I tossed on a mag. At 55k my stock spoked front wheel is doing just fine.

Didn't notice the broken spoke ... I've NEVER had a spoke break ... Dirt bikes, Ice bikes nor Road Bikes ... My 2009 has been ridden hard, packed full, two up and towing a Bushtec for a significant number of miles ... When I put on new tires I put in a new tube and rim liner and check spokes ....Once again, never a problem ... After over 50 years on the road ( most on spokes ) I guess I'm just lucky :>)

If you look closely I have several broken spokes. I was a fun ride to work that morning.

I have to agree with the others. I just swapped my spooked wheels out for a set of mag wheels. The spokes look nice when shiny, but I picked up a screw 100 miles from home and the game was over. I took me a while to find a set that looked good. So when I did, I had new wheel bearings put in them along with new tires and new brakes to top it off. I cleaned and waxed the rims before I put them on, so I won't had to do much to them for a while. No regrets here.,,,

Thanks much fo the responses. I’ve opted to keep the mags and watch for a good price on some used spokes and if I find some at new tire time I’ll choose.
Thanks again and everyone ride safe.

Spokes are a classic look, mags are more practical but bulky looking. JMO
