Mine made a "whispering" noise when rolling to a stop in Vermont, pulley was "rocking" on shaft
2 friends had them suddenly strip on x way / complete loss of drive
HD blamed and revised the locking method,( ( intial was just a locking screw engaging one flat of nut, they added a full "hex" lock ( 40251-92A) over the nut) I always thought that the splined inner portion should have been extended to the center of the pulley
Instead of so much offset.

The pulley thickness was increased at the splined area to mitigate the wobbling, and also the spacer outside diameter was increases for the same reason.
The spacer length was decreased to make up for the increased sprocket thickness.

Yeah, seems most people never had a clue until it just stopped pulling. I never could understand that - hard to believe they never heard or felt a thing.
Since I have run the bike for a short time, I have noticed that I have a base gasket leak. I see oil and tiny bubbles coming out of the rear cylinder base. I'm not yet sure if i should try to use sealer as a temporary fix or just pull the cylinders while I have things apart for the cam bearing replacement. Fortunately I have several months of winter to think about it. I sold a 6x10 trailer the other day and used the money to buy adjustable pushrods, lifters, cam bearing tools and a few other items so I'm almost ready for the cam bearing change. I'm still trying to decide which cam to buy. Ultimately I want to add a Woods 6 or EV27 with a little bit of headwork, and/or a bump in compression with pistons but I'm not sure I can afford to do all of that to the level that I want so I might just do an EV13. I'm going to pull the existing cam before I do anything because I don't know whats in there.
On another note, my front tire looks great but has a 2013 date code so new tires are on the list. I want white walls anyway.
I'm still happy with my purchase even with the work thats needed because its a very clean bike.. Also, I get a lot of enjoyment doing the work myself.

Evo base gasket leak is common , the gasket (instead of o-ring) shares the blame with riders not getting engines up to temp before "throttle up" IMO
IF head/piston work is in your next year plans, I`d let it seep until then , many recommend truing of the base surface on a lathe.
I did the EV-13 twice which is more of a torque cam, I ASSUME the 27 is compatible as a bolt in on otherwise stock motor ? That would save doing it twice
