Default 1990 flhs

Owner is firm on the price of $3995. Has 53K on the clock. Only mods are the mufflers. Ad doesn't say anything about cam bearing change. He also has a tour-pak for it. No oil leaks & everything works. It is out of state so there will be a shipping charge.

I like the FLHS models. Just a basic bagger with a couple of gauges and no frills. (The live to ride stuff has to go.).

Anything about the year model to be cautious about?

Worth the price?

Looks good. I like the two-tone paint.

Wouldn't sweat the cam bearing on a '90. It came from the factory with the good one.

Thanks Omaha. You think the price is fair?

If the lifters are original, they should be tossed.

Also the transmission sprocket and hardware should be replaced with the upgraded parts.

I really can't say. Haven't bought a bike for a few years now. To my eye, the price seems reasonable.

$4000 for that much iron. Here in VA, you can run antique plates. Never need an inspection, no taxes, and never renew state or city tags. It's pretty. If it runs good it needs nothing for 150K. Leave it alone and drive it.

That gold option is hot on an antique.

If you are trying to roll it, now that is something different.

And I would have to check it out and if shipping, I would need to be there to get it on my trailer. I bought a good deal and it turned out to be stolen. My caution and checking saved me some big dollars. Even owner and bank didn't know. Plus now days, scams are big-time.

Upgrade lifters to? Tranny sprocket and hardware upgraded to?

Thanks. Only used bikes I have bought in the last several years have been Shovels. Last EVO has been about 25 years (at least).

Decent price, worth a road trip if it isnt to far. Cash in person always nets a better deal.

The oem lifters of that era (up to late `90s) had a habit of needle bearing failures in the roller, new oem lifters are fine, S&S, Johnson Hylift are also good. Avoid no name lifters...

The transmission sprocket retaining nut on 5 speeds had problems loosening, there was an upgraded lock that came out in `92, but the real fix came out mid `94, it included the lock plate and screws that came out in `92, plus a new design sprocket, spacer, and oil seal.

I had to do all that Dan mentioned to my 86.She looks just like mine only cleaner.A plus is the newer ramp and ball for the cutch cover and a splined shaft.
