I am looking at a primary cover for my '92 Fat Boy. I have a fellow who has one from a '97 Softail? Will this fit? Can someone give me a quickie rundown on the different generations of the Evo?
Not a definitive answer:
The `92 p/n is 60543-89 `97 p/n is 60543-95
So, in theory there is a difference implemented in 1995, what that difference may be I do not know
but, if you have a 96+ evo (at least for baggers), you can use an outer primary from a twincam (up to 05 i think) -- i've got a 5bolt derby outer primary on my 98 roadking, and it was a direct bolt on (and fun fact -- there's a bit more clearance behind the derby cover, for those running larger aftermarket clutches/baskets)
Check the primary cover gasket, if it is the same it will fit. It could still not work because of other reasons, but those issue may not be important to you.
