Wego III came in and now need to get bungs welded onto head pipes. Going to farm it out and have the fittings TIG welded.
How far down the pipe should the bungs be placed? Or how far away from the head should the bungs be located? YD
Awesome, I'll continue watching this thread as I just got mine yesterday too. Last year a local welder put 2 bungs on a 2011 pipe for $60. I'll be going back to him as soon as I figure out where to put the rear bung on my 1994 factory pipe (and when all of my parts come back from Hillside).
Keep condensation in the pipe in mind when positioning the sensor, they should have a slight down angle if possible, water sitting in the sensor will shorten the its life, mainly if they are going to be installed full time, if your going to tune and remove, its less of a problem.

Yes, that was one of my concerns. However, I was limited with my location choice. I was looking for a location where I had room, away from other heat sources, out of the way and non obtrusive, would not interfere with access to other things like oil filter, trans dip stick, etc. Front bung is 12 inches from head, and rear is about 6 inches from head. You can see in the pics (below) the locations.
Front has the sensor installed, rear is the bung with a plug in place.
Not sure if the locations are going to be a problem with moisture, but I used my old set of head pipes for "practice". Just did a quick MIG job on the bungs. If the locations work out, then I will have stainless bungs TIG welded on to my "good" (NOS) head pipes. If the locations don't work out, then back to the drawing board.
Hope to get wiring done this weekend.

Not too many options with straight bungs, angled bungs gives more options and is used on most head pipes. https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pr...CABEgK_hfD_BwE
This is a Bassani head pipe on my TC. slight angle down above oil filter
