Acorn Nuts
That was my thing last summer...A handful of wrenches, head to my favorite hardware store (on the bike)
carrying the best chrome bolt selection. Pull off a half dozen regular nuts, bolts and washers at a time.
Go in, an' swap'em out for chrome. Pull another handful off, go back in and switch them out.
Do this like 3 times a day every couple weeks and it will soon start to show a nice clean look. I'm not done!

It was a thing in the 80/90's to change everything to acorn nuts. My brother still runs them on his Shovel. With the exception of the nut under the mirror which was stock, I would guess most of them on your bike are after market. Colony is a great source to source stock replacement hardware, they have original finish or chrome.
This place is a gold mine for information as always. I know that Google searches are quick and easy, but where's the fun in that? I like the interplay between knowledgeable folk.
I suppose I'll stick with and add to the acorn nuts since they are period correct.
Thanks again

Ah well. Life in the 21st century.
Stainless is great but you have to polish it after a while. I do a lot of SS jewelry and it fades after a bit. Swap meets and Rallys are excellent sources for hardware too.
Hey, I know my nuts like the palm of my hand!
