Default Mikuni HSR42

I have a possibility to buy a brand new HSR42 Easy kit at a descent price.
And yes it's a genuine one.

Question for You guys that are experinced in them carbs, is it worth changing the CV for an HSR42?
Bike got Sreami'n Eagle slipons, and airfilter with backplate.

The HSR42 is more of a performance carb than a CV, HSR42 is a great carb as long as you don't mind a touchy throttle "cable connects directly to the slide" unlike a CV, depends on how your ride, if your a cruiser stick with the CV, if you like to ride hard the HSR42

I went from a CV to an HSR42 several years back. I've got nothing against a properly setup CV carb but I recommend the Mikuni primarily for the noticeably better throttle response. I have ridden two completely identical bikes with the same modifications back to back with the only difference being one had a CV, the other an HSR42. That sold me on the HSR, I just like the feel of it more.

The Mikuni Tuning manual available online is an excellent resource if you end up grabbing the carb. One thing to note is that the idle mixture screw direction works the opposite of the CV. With the Mikuni you screw it in (clockwise) to richen the mixture, screw it out (counter-clockwise) to lean it out where with the CV you screw it out to richen the mixture, screw it in to lean it out.

Just my 2 cents which means nothing here. Have not had the pleasure of running a CV carb. Have run Linkerts, Bendex's , Keihins, SU's, S&S B, S&S E. The best hand's down, for me, was the Mikuni HSR42 flat side carb. A tuner's dream come true. I recommend to buy it. But. As I have not had experience with a CV carb. That is just my opinion. Which doesn't mean much here.

Worthy upgrade, install an Andrews EV27 cam as well and you will think someone installed a new stroker motor in your bike, that much of a WOW difference. Good luck.

Got the HSR42 flat slide. Best carb I’ve ever had.
