Default Replacing rear rotor

Whats the word on replacement rear rotors. I hear a lot of you saying to stay away from the aftermarket pulleys for wear and performance reasons, what about rotors? V-twin? Drag specialties? Harley rotor is harder to find for sure. I have new MoCo bolts to hold it on.

I went with a stainless steel rotor from Drag Specialties
I went through 4 sets of pads trying to find some that did not screech like hell.
Now others have run them just fine but my 97 EG ______ it just didn't like them.
EBC organic something or another was what did better than anything.

I said then I'd only run am OEM rotor BUT if they have gotten that hard to find ?????

This was just me so maybe some of the guys can get you some good recommendations.

Just how thin is it ?? That doesn't look all that terrible

its cast iron stock, i measure .25 and its stamped .27 min, so I reckon that answers my question on that, but the stainless products must be different? Still researching.

OEM are still available but about $200. I went with a $50 stainless off fleabay and it does just fine so far. If I could have found a used one that looked that good at a reasonable price, I would have bought it

Went with EBC organic (front and rear) and it screeched so bad I was embarrassed to ride it in town. Ended up taking them all off and greased the back plates and pins with Permatex Synthetic Ultra Disc Brake Caliper Lubricant and that took care of it.

Very important on the rear especially - use a Q-tip with solvent and clean out the rubbers the pins slide into. Then a thin coating of the mentioned grease on the pins and a thicker coat on back of pads.

Again, I wouldn't even consider replacing one that looked that good...

Well I reckon I will hold off on the rotor, and continue running my rear pulley that has lost most of its wear surface plating, but is is good shape otherwise, nice and round teeth.
maybe next winter I will feel different, hopefully after quite a few miles racked up.
Sounds like aftermarket rotors can work but stay away from aftermarket pulleys is the consensus. Thanks for your time folks.

I've been using Wilwood and never had any issues.. They're a really good stainless rotor...

Here's a pic of mine. The front measures .208" thick and the rear is .225". I am also running the EBC Organic Kevlar pad without any noises and stops as good as a single piston caliper can.. Now I'm not sure if thickness will differ with 99 down bikes compared to 2000 up.. I have 2000 up rims on my 98..

Yours at.250" is fine....

By the way I just wanted to mention with the Organic Kevlar pads I don't get much dust... Not dust free but very little...
