Anyone ever replace the shouldered screw that mounts the air filter to the backing plate on a late evo? Part #893A, obsolete (like so many things)..
Short of some custom lathe work i cant find an easy replacement. Maybe a modern air cleaner is in my future. If i can find one to fit a Magneti Marelli intake.
My bike (98 FI RKC) had stage one air cleaner and pipes on it when I bought it. It uses a different set of screws. You could scare up a stage one kit for it and get a reusable K&N air filter in the process.
Having a hard time getting my head around where this goes, but it looks like 1/4 bolt with steel sleeve slid over it would be a temporary fix, especially if not visible.
Ebay or dealer search (any dealer parts guy can do a nationwide search) would be my next choice. YD

That is an interesting suggestion. The sleeve would slide inside the air filter and stop the bolt from crushing the filter. I may experiment with this when i get back to o
hio. Thanks
