Default Clutch Creeping

I’m finally finishing the three month project and my last hurdle is adjusting the clutch.

My FXR is pulling a significant amount when I put it in gear with the clutch disengaged .

im following the steps per the manual. I’ve tried full turn, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 counter clockwise after I feel the adjustment nut touch the pushrod. I’m fully collapsing the cable before I adjust the nut.

am I missing something? Could the ball and ramp need to be looked at on the exhaust side?

If I remember correctly, he converted his '88 to an '05 gear set with a '90 - '97 clutch.
-----------------------------------------

1 - Did you check the used pressure plate for flat?
2 - Did you carefully center the spring on the pressure plate?

Try this - Back off the cable fully. Screw the adjuster bolt in till it touches. Pull then release the lever. run the screw another 1/4 turn pull and lever again. run it in another 1/4, pull and release lever again. The lever won't come all the way to the bars with the screw run in much so don't pull too hard.

Then slowly back off the screw a tick at a time and gently pull lever while backing out screw until you get to zero on the screw and the lever is against the bars. Don't push lever back out, leave it relaxed where it wants to sit. Then adjust screw 1/2 turn out from touching. Adjust the cable. See if that works..........

I tried the above mentioned process and I’m getting the same result.

I noticed as the bike gets warmer it creeps harder when the clutch is engaged.

I called Barnett and they said everything should work as it should. But to maybe try using a different oil. I currently have Redline in the primary.

they also said i may need to break in clutch cable because it’s new and Magum lines are known to stretch. Does that sound right?

That'll work. Did yo soak the new discs in oil before install?

You may have to run it bit to get everything settled in. Won't hurt anything, just hard to find neutral and such. If it doesn't get better in 300-500 miles, you may have a warped pressure plate or again, if the diaphragm spring isn't perfectly centered on the plate, that can cause dragging too.

I had to go back and look - they did change the inner and outer ramps in '90 but I've no idea whats different. Possible the later ones have more lift. That'd be my only other idea....

Inner ramp 25452-90
outer ramp 25453-90
ramp ***** are the same
