Default Lifters replaced

I have about 40,000 miles on my 93 EVO. Hear some rattle/tap noise and my mech figured lifters. He pulled the lifters and the rollers have very scored surfaces and the cam lobes are marked as well.
New lifter, adjustable, pushrods, cam and bearings. Parts are just over $800.00. Hope to get it back tonight.

It runs like a dream and this is the first surgery I've had to do. I'm wondering what else might I be looking at in repairs or is there a typical repair that may happen at this mileage?

800.00 Bucks ?!?! WOW........Over last winter I took my time and searched, (mostly on Ebay) Picked up a new set ofSE Chromoly adj. pushrods, New VT 3020 cam, and purchased a new set of lifters, cam bearing and seals, gaskets needed from Charlies H-D in WVA. All told I spent 300.00 for all of the parts and about 7 hours of my labor to do the swap.
Not bustin your *****. I realize sh*t happens and you don't have the time to shop around, you just wanna get back on the road. I try plan ahead a little get the known, or upgrade, the parts that are due to be replaced and maybe upgrade while I'm in there. I try and do this in the winter so hopefully I can spend all spring, summer and fall ridin. Save the wrenching for winter.
Also what kind of shape are the lifter blocks in?? If they are scored now is a good time to replace them. Also I would upgrade the cam unless your satisfied with the stock. After I change my cam, (it really woke the motor up) I wondered why I waited so long.

I'm the original owner of a 96 dresser with 62k miles. This last winter I did a basic mechanical rebuild. Piston, rings, and bored, cam, lifters, pushrods, valves, ignition, carb kit, starter, all 3 cables, belt and pulleys, rotors, pads and a tire. All I really needed was ring job ( it was smoking on rear) and belt. The rest I did just because. The rods felt good and inside of block appeared very clean.I'd like to get another 40k out of her, or buy one of those twinkies. No thanks. Hope this helps, I spent $2200 not including beerand did all work (except boring) myself, and never did it before. Just read the service manual and asked questions.

I probably could have sourced parts my self and attempted the work but never having done it and wanting it done I had my guy do it. I trust him not to rake me.
The cam was - Andrew V27, Andrew lifters and adjustable pushrods. New bearings and gaskets.
He gets parts through a broker/supplier and the labour is reasonable.

IT's all mute anyway - I listed her for sale today and will be out of bikes for two or three years.
At least I can say it's in great shape[&:]
