The FXR and the touring bikes both had the same rubber mounting system and used the same short primary case.

Thank you all for the input. I originally thought that there wouldn't be an issue but like I stated someone in another forum stated that. Just wanted to check and make sure I was correct before moving forward with my project.

I did reach out to S&S to find out about the motor I have and it is a 96ci with super stock heads and a 561 cam. Is there anything else I should be aware of while swapping out my stock EVO with the S&S? Anything else I should upgrade while I have it ripped apart?

Put the big (last) alternator on it. Some people have good results with the Cycle Electrics 3 phase as well. I would go with whatever ignition system S&S recommends, or the Dynatek.

I found the Cycle Electrics 3 phase but what is the "big (last) alternator" you mentioned?

32 Amp HD, 29985-87 if you don't have it already. Personally, I would go with the 32 amp HD just because if I ever needed a regulator, any HD shop or indy should have something, where as if I went Cycle Electric, I would not be sure. But lots of people have been trouble free with the Cycle Electric one.

Well according to the harley site that was stock on my year. So as long as it still looks good i'll keep what i have in there and if not i'll most likely replace it with the same.

I think the solid mount unbalanced Evo motors in softails feels like a Harley should.

That's true - a bit like a shovelhead!
