I just talked with an older gentleman who has a 1994 police Electra Glide he’s getting ready to sell. I am waiting for pics and particulars. In the meantime, I would like to know if there are any major differences with police models, such as taller gears, different cam, suspension, etc?
I would also like to know if there are any common problems I should be aware of (other than the beating that police duty can put on a bike?)
Thanks in advance for any input.
Being a 1994 model…..that’s quiet a few years ago. At this point in its life….it could be 100% stock, but that is really rare. Most have been modified so much that you can’t even tell it was a cop bike to begin with, except for handlebar switches, speedometer, and bags.
There’s not a whole lot of differences in a cop bike anyways. If you get it, just make it safe and enjoy the ride.
Gear ratios are different. Some of the wiring & switches are also different. I think the engines are the same #16134-94 in the FLHTP and also in the 1994 Road King. Seats & saddlebags are different.
Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. I’m still waiting to hear back from the gentleman who has it. I will let y’all know when I know more.
When was the bike taken out of service? Was the clutch plates replaced? You need to remember that cop bikes idled a lot.. has the top end been refreshed? Also didn't they get a better cam?
