The old style flasher module needs to see a certain amount of current draw by the circuit in order to flash.
If the flasher doesn`t work with the LED bulbs, you need to install a load balancer (resistor) into the circuit, which is nothing more than an extra path to ground.
Too much junk added to the wiring for me, I`ll stick with the standard bulbs on my old bikes.
I bought these because they were advertised as "low power" and they're supposedly direct replacements for the OEM bulbs. If they cause any problems, I'll just run two miles away to Walmart and grab the OEM types for $4.25 a pair.
The stock front turn signals for your year and model use standard 1157 bulbs as indicated earlier.
Your original bulbs obviously worked well for numerous years.
The actual housing was designed for regular bulbs.
LED bulbs are directional and very few standard looking LED 1157 will fire light in all directions like a standard bulb.
LED bulbs may not fit as there is not much room in the housing, may cause a hyper flash situation and may not reflect light correctly.
Not really worth introducing conflict especially since you state "I RARELY ride after dark". .
Save the frustration for when the original bulb gets stuck while trying to remove and the glass bulb breaks off.
Windseeker :I found out to fit the bulb in the housing, I filed down the solder bulge. also used an electronic flasher from local auto parts store(3 wire) type. Maybe this will help The 3rd wire to ground.
