Default 07-17 exhaust compatibility with evo question

i heard that 07-17 exhausts (specifically samson/bassani fishtails) were in fact compatible with evo era bikes. the only mods that need to be done are to plug the o2 bung and to drill/tap a spot on the frame to accommodate the exhaust bracket. anyone do this or heard this to be true?

Unlikely the header pipes would be. EVO and twincam a lot different.
Only one that can tell you for sure would be the manufacture. I need a rear CYL section of the the header pipe for mine. Looked for a year. Ended up having it welded.
Also if you ever need the tail light HD stopped making them but you can get aftermarket copies.
The HD Service manual covers 1995 and 1996 in the same book.

Complete exausts up to 07, if I recall, will bolt onto an evo. I have a 07 FLHT complete exhaust on my 86. The fit was perfect. I think I had to trim one bracket some for a tighter fit and add the sensor plugs. The ones that go under the frame, which I think started in 08, may or may not work.

Up to '08 will fit.
A quick check on ebay showed at least 5 sets, here's one that's even wideband ready, $200 and 37 shipping

Up to 2008 fit just fine…..

2009 up with the ones going under….that’s a different story. We put that style on a 1997 Ultra. The headers bolted right on, had to modify the bracket that mounts to the transmission. Didn’t like it afterwards and returned it back to stock. It made it a real PITA remove the transmission dipstick and the left would make contact with the road on sharp curves. Couldn’t have the center stand and newer style exhaust…..he found the center stand more beneficial.

Depends on the model bike you have.. A Softail will fit 86-2011...

I think he’s talking about the Softail….since there’s a Softail in his profile.

I'd recommend no drilling and tapping of the frame.
