ok i bought a new oil pump check ball and spring, figured if i was going to check mine id replace it. well im having a hell of a time getting the screw out, in fact i haven't been able to. is there a special tool for this.
Make sure the screwdriver is a fairly tight fit in the slot and "MODERATELY TAP" it with the hammer while putting both downward force and twisting force on the screwdriver. It should pop loose within 4-5 strikes.
If you use heat be prepared to replace the O-ring.
i don't want to have to remove it and im worried if i do to much tapping on it something will get screwed up or worse, leak. i thought if there were a socket with a flat blade recessed inside, that way it would fit tight over the screw head and hold it in place.
I have not heard of such a tool, maybe ask at the dealer, one of the mechanics may break it loose for you and then you could head home and use a regular screwdriver?

As one of the others said, "Drag link socket". Basicaly a big straight slot blade on a socket, available at most tool outlets. After you get it out replace it with an aftermarket piece with an allen socket in it. Cheap & a better idea.
