That's not a basket case. That's a "project bike." I've bought basket cases. They come in... baskets, trash cans, boxes, bags, etc.

So let me get this straight, It costs over $2400.00 to have a bike registered (license plates?) on the road for a full year.. What would make the cost that high? So what would a car cost, a $1000.00 a month???

If you take that slightly used bike and pull every single nut and bolt apart on it, right down to pulling the weights out of the auto advance unit, the gears out of the gear box, the tiny little screws out of every electrical panel and swithc, split the crank into 5 pieces, and even take the the spring off the kick stand, then mix all the parts up in baskets and cans and milk crates so some crank parts are in with the rear brake parts, which have been stripped down to the pads and pistons bare, and the other crank parts in with the front fender mounting hardware, and make sure the heavy items are dumped in the top of each basket and the easily dented aluminum and sheet metal items are in the bottom. then throw away at least 25 per cent of the boxes of parts, and then add in some boxes of random washing machine parts, lawnmower parts and stereo speaker innards, THEN you have a basket case.

The one in your pic appears to have made a good start by sitting out in the rain for a good year with the electrics exposed and gas tap on before the serious basketing begins. Extra points if the plugs and oil filler cap are missing.

Where you at with that bike? I haven’t seen an update in a while. You ever get it road worthy?

Cars are cheaper, but not by much. My truck and jeep are about $100/month each. Anything over 400cc here in Saskatchewan costs a small fortune to ride.

How my shovel started life, a bare frame and bunch of dirty crates & boxes at a swap meet, not all of them came for the same seller
