Just mounted and torqued the rebuilt motor as per FSM. (Top and bottom stabilizers just finger tight). Has new front rubber engine mount and rebuilt swingarm pivot, new Delkron trans case. Please see pics. Now, am I not hallucinating?? Should this motor, the same one that came out of this frame, be tilting forward?? Maybe three degrees. I've looked at hundreds of pics and some do look tilted, and some look more upright. I'm not ready to install transmission, but the 'tell' will be the inner primary I suppose. The rear motor to transmission mounting surface is flush. The bolts installed easily.
3 degrees off Frame is level You can see the intake is slightly tilted
Plain to see the transmission is high in relation to the frame. You may have the swing arm isolators and mounts upside down and/or reversed side to side.
The axle opening on the isolators are on an eccentric. There are locating dowels on the mounts that engage the rubber isolators. Viewed from outward side of the bike, the right side dowel should be at about the 1 o'clock position, left side about 11 o'clock.
Photo is from inner side of mounts
Before installing the inner primary, totally loosen the front engine mount center bolt and the 2, engine to transmission bolts. Snug the inner to engine bolts first, then wiggle/shake whatever you have to so the remaining inner to transmission bolts go in and tighten without any binding whatsoever. Do that before tightening the engine-transmission bolts. All drive train to frame alignment steps are done after all that.
I'll check the swingarm isolators first, but unless I have dementia, I would bet the farm I installed correctly. But we'll see...
Hopefully get to it today and post what I find.
I'm not there so not swearing that's it, but you wouldn't be the first to have them wrong and there really isn't anything else that can cause it unless your ratchet strap is cinched super tight.
Easy check, just move the strap end and hoses then look at the mount on the inner side. Should be easy to see the dowel.
