Default Engine oil and leaks.

I decided to combine my two recent questions that have came to mind. Bike in question is a 1994 Electra Glide

First is recommendation on engine oil. It’s seems that the consensus is to use Dino oil which is fine but what weight would serve me best? I will be riding the bike year around when weather allows so it may be 45 degrees or it may be 100 degrees.

I will be doing a oil change on it here soon to start off riding season and would like to go with the best option.

second said bike likes to leak spots on the floor. Not very big spots but it does. After looking the best I can tell is it’s coming from the breather, as there is oil dripping from the bottom of it (Bike has S&S Super E, and Tear Drop air cleaner.

while I know it’s common for them to mark there spot, I would just like to try and stop or slow it down. Is there any recommendations, as the PCV system seems to run between both cylinder heads and exhausts into the air cleaner.

appreciate your time and help.

20w-50 will suffice for Ohio weather
You can reroute the breather in a variety of ways
Simple house vented to atmosphere ( see pic) or a fancy billet catch can
1000`s of posts on both

Thanks EightEight I have looked into it some more and have a few ideas. I also think I found another oil leak at the oil cooler, one of the clamps was loose so tightened it to see if it will help.

20W50 is what I will probably go with as searching it seems that everyone agrees it’s the way to go

Here's how I solved the problem.

And no, it doesn't foul my plugs. If you're venting so much breather oil into your combustion chamber that it causes problems then you have other more serious issues causing that much oil to be vented.

Hi all, I also own 94 touring (RK) with air breather oil leak. Anyone has pics of routing the oil hoses from air breaher to the rear of bike? How and where you connectet oil lines from cyl heads inside air breather? Any tips for this job?

Run 20/50 half quart low and see if it stops.

Most likely the umbrella valves in the rockers are weak or excessive blow by.

Most won't agree but here goes, straight 50 weight and run the breather hose straight to the ground getting it away from the engine eating it's own chit.
