I've been getting rid of **** for the same reason the OP gives.
With the exception of my bike, anything that I don't need and the wife can't use, is going away.
When the time comes that I can't ride anyone, the bike will go also. I know a lot of guys keep them after they can't ride anymore but it just doesn't seem fair to the bike for it to just sit.

Can I have your bike?

You know, when the time comes and everything.

I hear ya. Once I cant pick it up off the kick stand anymore it'll go to someone who can. The only way Id consider hanging on to a bike I couldn't ride would be if my nephew or one of my grand daughters was interested in it and was close enough in age to start learning how to ride and maintain a motorcycle.
Then I would hold on to it until they were old enough to take it and care for it.

You know after 20+ years of hauling around parts I had a big advertised garage sale when we moved to Reno. All I posted was lots of Harley parts. People drove hours and literally cleaned me out. I had guys that couldn't contain their excitement they had found old, new takeoffs. I made a bundle too. Now 10 years later I regret selling some of them.

When I get too old and crusty to ride my big bikes I'm selling out. The shovel stays in the family but everything else goes. I'm going to buy a brand new 175-350cc jap bike, maybe a thumper, as long as it's light enough and if I can sling a leg over it, i'll ride it out in the County on Sunday afternoons until they wheel me off to the home.
