I like the wire style better than the big clip you have to pull a motor mount bolt to use. Tried a few, I just bend up my own out of stainless wire, get exactly the fit & shape I want that way.

First one I bought was the one that you replace the case bolt to hold it.
I didn't feel comfortable pulling the case bolt, So I went with the motor mount type.
It's thinner than a washer, and no chance of snapping the case bolt removing the OEM one.
That would have made for a bad day.
Thats my question I guess. Don't really want to go looking for trouble pulling a case bolt. Getting overly cautious in my old age.
Still looking for opinions...... Would like to see some pics of various options....
I know, grade one stuff but I tend to overthink everything now in my old age..
Thanks
Just GOOGLE stator plug retainers for Harley Davidson, you'll get all the pictures.
Then YOU can decide what works for you. That's what I did.
Like I said
The case bolt one was the nicest looking but you remove the case bolt and replace it with the new one that comes with it.
The wire one like shown is the least expensive but I think you have the same case bolt removing issue (not sure).
The simplest one is the font motor mount one.
BTW, none of these come with instructions.
Thanks fellas. I have googled for pics of installed case bolt retainers without success oddly imo. Some look to be one case bolt others look to be two.
I'm thinking that without a retainer one is playing with fire.... tho I have never had a problem.
