Does that bike have circuit breakers of fuses (I`m thinking `97 was first year for fuses)?

Post a pic of the power supply wire for the Garmin.

No problem, I'll post everything that came with it - wiring wise - just give me a bit

Basically though, one end of the power lead plugs into the rear of the GPS and the other ends are just bare wires for POS and NEG.

The Power cable:

The respective ends of the Power cable:

Two bare wires to be connected where ever and the other end to be plugged into the rear of the GPS

Does your bike have fuses or circuit breakers?

Honestly, I don't know for sure BUT being a 97 FLSTC I'd guess it had fuses.

Anyway, I have my "Passing Lights" wired up via a toggle switch so I can have them ON with the High Beam. My plan is to hard wire the GPS power cord into those wires, so long as I can trace them to a point where they are accessible and where I can solder the GPS wires into them. In short - when the ignition is off, so too are the lights and; therefore, the GPS

Here's what I did. Crimp a ring terminal to the end of each wire. Run the wires from your bars, under the tank and to your electrical panel. Connect the red one to switched source and black to a ground. The cable they give you is plenty long enough. No need for cutting, splicing or installing cigarette lighter adapters. This couldn't get any easier.
