Default Callapsed lifters

$250 for a set of lifters and 2 of the 4 brand new lifters collapse as soon as I started the bike. I put this same brand in my Shovelhead with over 5k miles trouble free. Thought I would use the same ones in my Evo. What a disappointment.

It is common for that to happen.. These Evo's don't have instant oil pressure to pump up the lifters. Sometimes it can take a 20 minute ride to fully pump them up, you just need to be patient and give them a chance....

Pump them up with a pump oil can before installing.

Those look like Feuling lifters, probably re-branded V-Twin. There is a lighter spring under the center cup and a much stronger one under the main piston. The two on right are not only collapsed but are stuck and no amount of oil pressure the engine can produce will ever "un-stick" them. Maybe high pressure air from a compressor and a blow nozzle in the side oil hole, but that's a 50/50 at best.

As to your other thread - the push rod covers are one of the least likely places these engines will ever leak. You have an o-ring (s) out of place, not seated in the head or damaged. The small fat one goes in the head, medium skinny in the center and largest skinny goes on the bottom. There is a thin metal washer that sits in the tappet guides under the lower o-ring. Unless you cut the upper tube too short to accommodate the S&S Quickie rods, an o-ring problem is the only thing that can cause a leak from the covers.

Take the covers apart and check your work, wipe everything clean and ensure the upper ones are seated properly in the heads.

I didn't notice the 2 on the right sorry.. You can try to take them apart, maybe you have debris in them keeping them from popping back up.. Not sure who's they are... Air should pop out the plunger..

I've always pulled the plugs and let the starter motor pump them up for a minute or two.

If you do that before the push rods are installed, when there's a pond on top of the discs, they're primed, pumped and good to go.

As previously stated the 2 on the right are stuck.
If they're brand new you should be able to warranty them.
If not & you want to try to save them they usually pop apart with air pressure. If not heat them up with a propane torch while applying air pressure & they will come apart.
If the barrel is scored there's nothing you can do. They're junk. If they look good give them a good cleaning. Depending on whose lifters they are the tolerance will vary. It's possible to change plungers between lifters to get a good fit on all 4. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't.
The lifters I sell are fit to .0002 clearance. The plunger is matched to the lifter. If you took them apart for cleaning, inspection etc. & got the parts mixed up the same thing would happen.
Most standard replacement lifters have a tolerance of .001 - .002 so you could have a little room to work with.

I put some compressed air into the lifters via the side hole and they definitely came free.

Opened one up and the internals are a VERY snug fit. If there is a spring inside, it doesn't want to come out.

I opened up one of the good ones and the inside looks exactly the same, but when I push down on the cup it does spring back. If I push down on the two bad ones they stay down. One of them will come back if I turn it upside down and give it a good smack on the work bench.
