One thing that people tend to forget is that when you manually pump up your lifters and install them and then adjust the front cylinder pushrod, it's actually pumping that lifter down and then you turn the motor over to adjust the rear cylinder then that front valve spring pressure is going to pump down the front lifters again. This is why it can take some time to pump them back up.. So when you know you are correct in your adjustment procedure and start the motor and get some noise, sometimes you just have to be patient till they pump up.. Unless it's really lose and loud. Then you might have to go back in and readjust.. I've had lifters take a 15 minute ride to quiet then down totally.. I always set preload from zero lash (top down) at TDC...

I tried running the motor 3 times to pump the lifters up. Those 2 bad ones just collapse further like there is no spring in them at all. Bike would barely run with throttle wide open and was staying around 2500 rpm. And it was horrible. Could not keep it running for even a full minute. I put the OEM lifters back in for now. Going to invest in some S&S lifters and quickie pushrods.

Yeah those 2 lifters were real bad.. Going to the S&S is a good choice.. I only posted what I did because sometimes some people need to give it a little time.. it just the way it is.. But your 2 are beyond the point of no return.. I never had a plunger stick like that..

If they are Fueling or V-Twin somebody needs better quality control in their factory
