Default 96 flhtcui stator question

I have a problem with my stator. I replaced the rectifier after testing but I never completed the output test for the stator. I did that today and the stator is putting out around 5.6 amps at idle and 12 to 13 amps at 2000 rpm. The rectifier probably was good, but I find that my 96 original rectifier part number matches the part number for a 97 flhtcui. Now the issue is the stator. It isn't putting out the correct amps according to my tech manual. I need to replace it. All of the 96 rectifiers I've seen online have very different connectors. The 97 rectifiers have the correct connectors on them. The 96 is supposed to have a stator rated at 35 amps and the 97 stator is rated at 40 amps. I don't even know if it'll fit in my ailing evo. And that is my question. Does someone in the know out there have an answer for me?

Call these guys and they will tell you exactly what you need. Cycle Electric is the best. Recommended by many, and I have one myself.

For stator check you want to check AC volts, however as daven9113 mentioned, cycle electric will set u straight.

This thread is a good charging system diagnostic "how to".

My stator fails the ac output test. The problem is when I go online to search for a stator for a 96 flhtcui, what comes up are stators that have very different connectors than the connector on my bike. The stator for a 97 flhtcui has the correct connectors. What I want to know is will that 97 stator fit and work. I already know my stator is bad. I'm just having a problem finding the correct stator. Thanks to all who respond.

Ok some pics of your connectors would help in getting you a good answer.
Most all try to give correct info just sometimes more info/ pics help make sure we are telling ya right.
From your post "My stator fails the ac output test"
Your presenting your stator test in amps That raise some questions.
If you don't mind what were the results of your stator test in AC (alternating current) Voltage.

5.6 at idle which according to tech manual is 7 below what is normal and between 12 and 13 at 2000 rpm which is 26 to 29 below what it should be at 2000 rpm. This isn't the issue anyway. It's the differences in stators from 96 to 97. The pictures of the connectors wouldn't make a difference either. One stator connects at the case and the other connects from a longer lead at the frame. The 96 stator is a two prong circular connector that connects at the case where the 97 is a square two prong connector that is on the end of a long lead that connects at the frame.

This is the connector.

I was having trouble getting a link to show the difference between 96 and 97 stator.
One thing that is obvious is the 96 stator leads plug straight into the regulator.
While the 97 stator leads run to a connector that is coming off a set of leads out of the regulator.
As to amp specs I not sure

That looks to be a 97 connector least the pic I found of one it is
Was trying to find the differences but not having much luck
