No my friend the bike pictured does not have a shovelhead engine, that is an EVO. The cam chain thing came about 2000 and later.

It's a Dyna
89 - 98 (electric start only, no kicker)
Dual throttle cables (that are too long)
Mikuni carburetor
Wrong rear fender
It's been repainted
And as the numbers are all wrong it's been rebuilt probably due to a wreck.

The bike in the picture is a FXR with an Evo engine. The transmission and starter look to be 1991 or newer. That bike is not a Dyna.

I don't see what's Frankenstein about it other than the vin issues.. I know I said 1989 but looking a little closer it's at least a 1990 up, (Starter)... Possibly and Arlen Ness big sucker top Breather. Front end is 2000 up (brake caliper) which is a good upgrade.. The engine stamp is not correct. Should be 4 letters and 6 numbers to match the frame vin.. I would get those 2 first and go from there.. It might be matching who knows.. But definitely will require a solid search on the Vin... What is the price?

The modern starter configuration started in `89.

The OP needs to clarify the VIN, and verify the title shows correct VIN and model year.

It is certainly not a 1980.

Throttle cables crazy long, clutch cable looks tight against the bars.

Bike needs a competent mechanic...

Looks like a survivor in pretty good condition.

Tank & rear fender are aftermarket, trans & starter are later years, frontend is definitely later model, and some other odds & ends, bikes been heavily played with.

The issue at hand is the 1980 advertised and the machine is an 1990s evo FXR type visual - as said the rear fender is softail and not the shorter correct in that style that would look way better
the carb change is fine - the fork change is fine - the color could be better but the paint looks usable - stop —

please note — if you do buy it and tell harley people its a 1980 someone will come out of the closet and tell the police - you then will have it impounded and wont get it back no matter what you think

and have to deal with the Y you have it and who did you get it from - in a court room
