Default EVO kudo's

I went riding with a friend of mine this weekend and at one of our stops he suggested we swap bikes for a little bit. I agreed because he has a 2007 Street Glide with a 103 engine, head work, higher compression, cams, SE aircleaner and true duels and I wanted to see what it was like. It rode pretty smooth, but there was a lot of engine vibration and I didn't think it pulled any harder than my bike. It was OK but I wasn't impressed with it especially for how much he had invested in it.
He got off my bike and said "man this thing runs smooth, no vibration, no hesitation like most carbed bikes". I thought to myself, man I love my EVO, all was good when I got back on her.

Sounds like you got a good one. I'd keep her forever.

I road a friends SE road glide last summer, when he got off mine (89 FLHTc) he asked me if I had stroked it. I love my evo. I think its the best engine the moter co. has built to date.

98 Heritage- I think I got an exeptionally smooth one too, Cruises great anywhere from 60 to 90 mph, no vibration. I thinkwithin an acceptible range of tolerance at the factory, a few happen to come out with a near perfect balance. I just got an 07 Dyna, love it too, great power, smooth, was going to trade in the old Heritage, and just couldnt let it go, so I kept them both.Just touredthe EVOall over Montana and got 50 to 60 mpg. If I hold 90mph all day it drops to about 47mpg. I dont think a "twinkie" can match that.

I can't say enough good about my 1999 EVO. Like others have said it is so smooth and powerful I will never get rid of it. It is so easy to wrench on it and the longer I own and ride it the more I value it.

'96 Road King -- Same thing. Buddy has a couple newer models, took mine for a spin and said "sah-MOOOOTH" when he got off. Passed up a bunch of newer models that I didn't care for before I found this one. Still needs a little "tweaking" (but stuff like the bars and a nicer headlight).

I'll second(third/fourth/fifth?) the smoothness, and this is my first HD after riding Asian bikes for 25 or so years. Other than at idle, my FXR is smoother than my CB450K7 twin, and not much worse than my XJ600 inline four. My Wife's Shadow is smoother, but feels a bit wimpy because it doesn't have the torque.
