I wish I could post a video showing the lead coming out of the fender to the neck and where I have it circled...the wire coming out of the fender, is black, but two together, like you would see with the cord on a fan for the home, and ends in that 'plug' I have circled. It just doesn't make sense, but there it is. This is why it's stumping me so badly.

Maybe I'll try to take more pictures of the cord/line from the fender.

Okay gang, I got the fender tip light problem fixed.

When I put on the adapter thing on the bike (this https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...kit/p/69200442 ), the instructions completely left out anything about the plug on the harness that is for the fender tip light since the harness bypasses some of the main wiring, such as the OW wire!

So, on a hunch, I had to pull the left tank loose about a half inch so that I could get a screwdriver in far enough from the front of the tank to lift the zip tie that was holding that fender tip plug from being able to reach the plug on the new harness.

Once I got that plug loose, I plugged it into the female plugin of the harness, turned on the ignition switch and voila...light at the front fender tip! WOOHOO!

Anyway, I still don't understand why there was a plug wired the way it is for the front fender tip light on '97 FLSTC's, but it's there and that's what made all this such a PITA, since even in my factory service manual it doesn't show any "plug"...just the wiring in the wiring diagram. Really weird.

Anyway, I truly appreciate all the help everyone gave. You're all the kind of good people that make this site so damn fine to belong to. Thank you, one and all for the help with this. Take care and enjoy the warm weather now winter is finally over.

Now, wish me luck with getting the bike fired up! Which, by the way I *think* I may have figured out. When I took the cam sensor from the '98 out, to put in this new one I just bought, because this new one uses counter weights for the advance, I unplugged the VOES vacuum hose from the Super E and put a plug over the vacuum pipe. When I took a flashlight a little while ago and looked in the intake and cracked the throttle a bunch of times, no fas was squirting into the intake.

Gonna plug that vacuum line back onto the carb (it comes from the petcock), and hope this is all it's been needing this whole time. I'll be back and let everyone know if it worked or not.

If petcock is vacuum activated, will need vacuum to allow petrol to flow out of it.

On Voes, its vacuum activated, and if it does not have a vacuum to the switch, your not going to get spark from the coils.

Sorry but that is totally incorrect. The VOES has nothing to do with whether the coil gets a signal from the module to fire.

It's purpose is to send a ground signal to the module telling it to advance the timing at low rpm when vacuum is present.

* Also, Tar Snake is using a hall effect sensor with flyweight advance unit so a voes is not used at all.

I was just about to comment on the sensor I was using having no need for the VOES.
