Permatex hardening aviation gasket sealant. Seals and acts as a threadlocker.

Like John said yamabond or I use Hylomar now for thread sealing also.

I've been using a small amount of Permatex Silver Anti-Seize on the primary plug for 38 yrs on my '85 FXR. Never had a leak issue, or a stuck plug.

Mine doesn't leak and no sealant(s) used on it, it was the same with my '98 Super Glide. I don't know why some do leak though and some don't, it's strange.

Weld the hole solid buy an o ring fitting and machine so it has one - then you can buy o rings

1989 FLSTC, a little teflon tape on the tapered pipe plug, no leaks for 34 years.
