Pulled the rear Y pipe off and welded it back together. Had almost a 75% crack around the split. I know that I've heard that it's a design flaw and it will crack again.

put some rubber on starter mount, then tack it together on the bike

My 1989 ElectraGlide cracked there. The welder rewelded it and added two gussets. Two triangle pieces added (top and bottom). I believe I had to trim the chrome shields back some because of the top gusset.

I believe it's a common thing. Before I welded mine I looked online for a set and every set of stock headers I found had the same crack in the same place.
That style pipe it's common even through the twinkies years, I've help redo several, even did one on the job for a coworkers bike that let go completely pulling into the parking lot, he had a 130 mi. a day round trip commute.
Check all the iso mounts particularly the rear on for that side, they get old, harden up and crack.
