I'm with QC, DKCustoms Thunder Torque Inserts are better, was running them in the old pipes on the fxr, baffles were non existent anymore, could definitely tell the difference with the Torque Inserts, and actually made the exhaust note a bit lower, I've tried the torque cones in the past with old shovels with drag pipes, never really noticed then really doing much
FWIW, The Dyna we sponsored back in 2000 to run in the Yamaha sponsored "Hot Rod Cruiser" class had multiple exhaust / carb combos on the dyno.
We tried the 1 3/4" drags both with and without torque cones and in our case, we saw no appreciable difference. (Ended up with a 2 into 1 modded Supertrapp for competition.)
Thanks to all for your contributions, Plenty to mull over.
My old Fat Boy Evo is stock bore & stroke, stock cam for now, does run a Dyna Ign, Screaming Eagle module, one of my stage #2 CV carbs. K&N of course.
I'm waking it from long hibernation,.. So I am gonna 1st try the cones. But was happy before when I parked it on performance. Not a race bike, just my street machine.

Honestly the two and a quarter inches is what's going to kill you.. If you kept them one and three quarter all the way on an Evo you can tune them, lollipops, cones... The problem is you're losing your velocity in the pipes...
I agree, I fabbed up some lollipops back around 2015, & it sounded like crap, I don't do dynos.. Seat of the pants is my thing. I couldn't tell any improvement, maybe the wonky sound kept me distracted.
I do have baffles from a set of pipes from long ago. I like the open sound.

I agreed with you & after much deliberation, I will be digging out those baffles I saved from other pipes (Python I think, & IIRC, V&H makes the Python for Drag Specialities.) & will try them over the cones.. I don't wanna trap more heat in the heads.. But in the 2-1/4" area. I am still reviving my machine from long hibernation, but am gonna try the baffles...

Thanks, & to all who contributed. .
2-1/4... How big is this Engine???
I didn't go that big on my 114!!!
Diameter effects Velocity...which effects Cylinder Fill, and Scavenging!!! Too Big of a Head Pipe...No Good...
