Default Ground locations in the fairing

Hi all,
Apologies upfront if this was covered extensively elsewhere. I did do a search but hadnt found much quickly. I also checked the manual but the diagrams dont really help me with locations. I have been having some electrical issues that I was able to trace back to a ground wire. I am curious on where the best spot(s) to ground a circuit within the fairing. This one was just drilled into the mounting bracket for the ignition module with a self tapper. It seems like a few of these little 18 gauge wires could be combined and ground to one good spot, though I could be wrong. It's not my strong suit. Thanks for any advise.

Without knowing the year and model, no one can give you anything more than a general, common sense guess at best...

OK, cool.

There is an aluminum block on the top left fork where the anti-dive valve is located (unless it's been butchered off). There is a strip of approx. 4 pairs of 1/4" male spade terminals.

That is precisely where all the harness grounds should terminate inside the fairing. One, or a pair of those wires goes back toward the rear and is a "feed" ground of sorts. I have no idea where the back end of it attaches to the main frame.

If any one of the grounds that attach there is compromised (dirty, loose) they will do some freaky things with the radio, lights, etc. And you're correct - the FSM is zero help with ground attachment points.

Thank you! I no longer have the air suspension up front so I will have to make sure that is still there. If its not, it may explain why they now terminate in random spots.

I was afraid of that. If it's any help, all the wires that used to attach there were brown, with exception of the dive valve which were both black wires, one ground and the other attached to the right handlebar harness.

Good luck!
