2005 Ultra Classic.
Seems like it started last weekend. Every once in a while the proper blinker works, but then they’ll both come on which I’m sure is confusing for people trying to figure out what I’m going to do.
Might be a wiring issue somewhere. Probably a chaffed wire touching. Have you had the outer fairing off at all? If not, pull it and check your fairing brackets to make sure they’re not cracked......I’ve seen the wire loom that goes through that area have chaffed wires caused by broken fairing brackets.
Not all that familiar to the 05 , but could be a short in the system ( exposed wire ) , check both switch connectors on both right / left ( inside fairing ) trace the wires back to the Turn signal module and check connection there as well . If your bike is equipped with a tsm / tssm it could be faulty , but more than likely a bad connection or wire .
Does your key light ever come on? Check for any codes in the TSM, the system is pretty good at giving you a place to look.
You don't need any tools to check for codes, YouTube it for better instruction, but hold the trip button down and turn the ignition on. Navigate using the trip button and the odometer.
B1122 (b1122) (TSM) Right Turn Output Fault. May also want to check your bulbs as sometimes the turn signal filament inside the bulb can break and fuse to the running light filament within the bulb causing issues. Cheap to replace all 4 bulbs and check for shorting wires as above.
Another thing I would check , is the connector under the seat that leads under the rear fender . Could be a corroded connector or pinched wire . It's possible that you may have bottomed out too and did some damage to the wiring under the rear fender .
