Progressive Monotube Fork Cartridge kit...

I have a lot of stainless but didn't think it would go with the rest of the bike..
Hopefully by Friday I'll have a test ride in..
The reason I did all this was because of the severe wobble at 100 mph.. The trail was only 4.7" and as I learned, that is no where near enough for this chassis (softail).. Keep in mind though that the Softail Deuce triple trees are what decreased my trail dramatically because of the 1.05" larger offset in the triple trees..
I though a decreased trail would increase the handing as is with the Dyna's and FXR's.. Well that didn't turn out to be the case and is what lead to my severe wobble.. But I didn't want to go back to the stock front end with all the covers behind the 7" headlight as I felt it was part of the issues with wind deflection on to my head and straining my neck at speed on long rides..
I took a little of time to get the rim centered properly to the rotor because the FXDWG front end is a 1/2" wider than the FLSTF but it all came together with out issue..
A note to make now is that my trail is now 6.43", which is great stability at speed but did make the front end a little heavy at low speed (a little and am not concerned about it).. Exactly what increased trail is supposed to do..
So now that it's all back together and I took it out on the road to check all speeds and twisties and for the first time since I've own the bike in 20 years now, I've never felt such a solid ride..
The bike is planted so well to the road that it's hard to imagine a Fatboy could feel like this.. I've never ever felt this kind of stability before.. Also keep in mind that I'm running the 422's on the rear and the suspension is now working in unison like never before..
I can't believe how well it's working and highly recommend the Progressive cartridge drop ins.. I can't say enough about them.. I'm truly impressed..
I really like the way the stock triple trees came out by shaving the lower tree and powder coating.. I gave them some chrome bolts just to highlight the black powder coating a little..
I guess it goes to show that pretty much anything can be altered if you want to take the time..
Now I have to wait till Monday because rain is immediate future... Dang..
Yeah I know it's probably a long post but it's all needed to be said for those that want to upgrade their suspension..

I got the last of the parts together to convert my front end back to HD OEM. Mine came with Lifeline legs and a accutronix knock off set of trees. Found issues with the legs last year and let it go as they work ok, but it's been eating at me. I also dislike the fork stops on this after market set up and wanted to get back to the factory set up. So I ended up with, mid-90's FWDWG trees, 2005 legs, matching axle, 2002 4 piston caliper, EBC HH pads and for the time being the 19 that was on the front. Also the same set of Monotubes as you 31-2503.
I'm currently stripping and polishing the new legs to get a good polish on the aluminum parts, also planning to convert to a 16 up front over the winter. A project in slo-mo, though if it keeps raining on the weekends it might get done sooner.

Yep, Three files, three types of 3m scotch pads, 220 and 600 paper, then buffing wheel tripoli then fine rouge. I'll give them a final buff then mount them, after the wheel is mounted I'll do a final with simichrome paste by hand.

So I called Progressive this morning and asked them about the sag and They inform me that a 1/2" sag is a normal setting for the front end and that the model monotubes that I have are not of the earlier design so their video that they have out there isn't the right video for the newer style monotubes where they say 2 spacers would be for 170-200 lb person.. I then asked them to send me a replacement for the one that broke, he said no problem.. So in the meantime I went to the hardware store and got 6-in nipple of PVC schedule 80 1-in and figured I'd make one and try it and see what it's like..I made a 5/8" spacer, Well that really made the front end stiff for sure and I wasn't really sure if I wanted that stiff anymore... So I went back to just the 1/4"spacer and am very happy with the ride and handling..In the video they show a plastic cup between the gas charged shock and spring and this was one of the main reasons why I took mine back apart because I don't remember seeing that.. So I'm thinking something ain't right but after talking to the guy at Progressive, it turns out that that's old style and what I have his new style.. Thinking maybe they should change their video... Beware...Anyways it's all back together and I'm very happy with all of it... Just want to update...And thanks @TwiZted Biker , I appreciate the offer for having some made.. Totally not necessary at this point.. Ride safe Dan...
