Default Speedo dying

Anyone have a place that can rebuild an 87 speedo? On the way into Sturgis on Saturday the needle started bouncing. When I pulled off the exit it was screaming like a little girl!! Took it apart and the cable is fine. This is the second speedo to die.

Any help?

Have not done business with them in over 20 years, however it is a second generation (maybe third by now) family owned business. Top notch when I did business with them years ago.

Mountain Cowboy, not sure about your speedo, but the speedo on my 90 FXR was squealing louder than my Ex. I replaced the cable but that did not do anything. I took it in to a local shop to have it rebuilt, but the guy that had the shop said that it was one of those years that the speedo's were not rebuildable. He told me to wait a couple of minutes and took the speedo into the back of the shop, brought it out a couple of minutes later and said try this. He had lubed the speedo drive on the back of the speedo, whatever he did quieted my speedo down and I haven't had any problem since. Might try adding a little lube to the back of the speedo and see if it helps.
