evo top end
As for top end, make sure that wrist pins are still tight to connection rod top bushings, and if not, then plan on replacing the bushings as well.
By tight, should still be able to slip into the bushing, but not be able to cant the wrist pins in the channels isntead.
Hence rabbit hole begins on a rebuild, when Jugs cylinders are so worn, that they need to be bored and next size piston installed, verses just cross hatching the cylinders.
Compression wise, can face bottom of jugs when lathing off gasket, to bump stock compression a touch (want piston squish to be .030" with new base gaskets being used), while if you are bumping up to 10-1 or over, than may have to get into compression releases so your not frying starters.
Also, when you have the cam out, want to check crank run out, to determine if you need to go next step, to pull the case apart to address major crank run out problems there and them, including rebuilding the bottom end as well.
