Do you know what that container is and what purpose this crankcase filter serves in this particular case? Thank you in advance
The big black thing is a charcoal canister for the ridiculous Cali Carb standards they came out with in the 90s, had a nice side hustle stripping all that crap off bikes back then. Indian dealership, we'd tell new owners to leave it all alone till 1K and the big service, most owners rode out with a bag of stuff that "fell off" the bikes. The little filter is just a filter to stop oil mist coating the side of the bike, doesn't do anything else. The black caniister can be tossed but trace out and cap all the line end point, just don't plug off the gas tank vent line, it'll be wrapped up the spaghetti somewhere.

Best guess, since it pumped to evap can, and port into it (what the port the arrow is pointing to), should be the tube off the carb float bowel port to that can.

Hence charcoal emission port out of carb, should be tubed to port that arrow above is pointing at on the left hand can.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. So, I guess everything is hooked up correctly? Just want to double check. From what I understand, the evap can be discarded if I choose so, but what are the advantages of discarding the evap caninster?

Also, I apologize about the bike NOT being a Cali bike. I checked a copy of the original title and indeed it was registered before in Cali. So, everything is hooked up OK?

Sorry for the dumb question. Is the gas tank vent line connected somehow to the fuel filter? I know the OEM fule filter was replaced with an aftermarket high-flow fuel filter and the original vacuum line that the OEM fuel filter was using was discarded and plugged off at the carb. Or is there a different gas tank vent line? Thank you

Thank you. So far it's been working fine. But, perhaps I might try going back to the OEM just to see the difference.

Evap canistor is just to vent the tank and the carb petrol fumes, to the canister, instead of directly to the atmosphere.

So on your bike, instead of just having the none CA items of 17 to 20 that just vents the tank to the atmosphere , they do the charcol canistor at 21, so the evap fumes are controlled/absorbed by the charcoal canister isntead.

As for the chrome can under the arrow,

Note sure what is doing , if its part of the evap system to tie in both the float bowl vent and tank vent to the evap system, or it it was some kind of oil catch can system instead.

So on that note, if tank vent is piped into it then out the bottom to the charcoal canister, then port at the arrow, is where the carb float bowl vent goes to.

If line coming down to canistor is not going to the chrome smaller tank, but that line goes to the tank vent instead, then best guess is it was designed as oil catch can, but since your breather bolt are vented, not ported out, then chrome tank is not doing a thing, and the port that your pointing to with arrow, would have been for breather bolts porting to it with this kind of breather bolt set up.
