Or is there a different gas tank vent line? Thank you
Can say off the top of my head, been some years. I'd have to see the bike itself and trace lines to sort things out sorry. Online somewhere there's a California only emissions parts diagram for the year and model. Hunt that up before you get any deeper iin. If it has and an inline filter before the carb, get rid of it, useless and causes problems. That's a hold over from another time.

There are 5 pages in the service manual on the CA evap system with excellent pictures and instructions, I would suggest you buy one soon. Those models had a bunch of unnecessary crap on them that you can remove, but you need to understand the system as a whole so you can do the conversion correctly. It involves not only the carbon canister, but also the CA only carb backplate with special solenoid, purge hose going from carb to canister, clean air inlet to canister and vapor valve from tank to canister. Here is the basic diagram so you get an idea of what you're dealing with.

Thank you everyone. I will try ti disassemble the small chrome canister and show where the line exactly goes to and from. Also, I will check what's up with the purge hose from the carb.
