Default Chinese module program

This is a continuation of https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo/1...l#post21940543 where @JackFLH was trying to program a Chinese copy module.

Thanks to 98hotrodfatboy for loaning a spare said unit. I hooked it up and the lights behaved as they each should. However it will not program as the Ultima 53=644 or Dyna D2000i (D2ki) do.

I assume the Chinese copy unit does not have an eeprom to be programmed which would explain the low price.

Good to know and thanks to you and Hotrod for this information. Did it give you any specific info like "module not found" or anything like that? I still can't get my Curvemaker program to even boot up. At least I am happy with the curve I have loaded in my bike. Thanks again. Your explanation makes sense.

Uninstall what you have and re-install. Download here https://www.dynaonline.com/downloads/software-firmware/

Don't forget to have everything connected, power before connecting to PC.

Thanks for that. Been there and done that. Did not help. I think it's time for a new computer. This one is an old laptop running windows 10. It is a current version of windows 10. I will keep trying.

Your USB port may be broken inside. I run into that lot on laptops.

Go in to device manager (in the control panel) and see if it's even recognized. May simply need some drivers.

If I remember correctly you have to be careful which release of software you have. I have an old software CD from Dynatek that I believe only work with Vista and windows 7.. So, check your version. If you want to borrow my disk, I can send it to you.

Are you referring to your old disc or the current software from Dynatek website.? My story was tried to the run the program as I have done in the past (about a year ago?) and would not run, tried a few things with no success. Un-installed and re-installed from the website and out of desperation from a back up disc. Tried both methods multiple times.

Most recently yesterday, did a windows update, then tried again. No joy. Computer acts like the program wants to run but does not. Trying to start it, it asks if I "want to allow this unknown program to make changes to my hard drive" or something like that. I click yes, and then it tries to run but does not. I do notice that the computer slows down and runs slower AFTER I try to start the program. Slows down almost like something is taking up resources, or searching for a file. Reboot computer and the normal speed of the computer returns, try to start curvemaker program and computer slows down again. Rinse and repeat. Truly baffled.

I do have an even older laptop that still works, runs on windows XP with curvemaker loaded on it. In a pinch I can use that. Might even try it a little later today after playing with all the snow we got the other day.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions on what to check to get it running, but not real computer savvy. I am part of the last generation that was NOT born with a computer in my hand...
