That's exactly what I use. Little oil on the seal and shaft and on it goes.
Thats good to hear, thanks. Do you leave the outside surface of the seal dry..? Ive read that lubricating that area to enhance ease of installation leads to leaking.
As a rule, the spring faces the oil you want to keep in its place....in the case of this crank seal, it is counter-intuitive, and it goes in seemingly backwards. because the crankcase is vented and likely to suck primary oil in, rather than blow engine oil out, having said that, if the seal is stuffed, it will blow engine oil into the primary...that messes with my head a bit...

Never pulled the inner primary.
I have discovered that a length of 2 Sched 40 PVC pipe fits perfectly into the slot on the seal between the metal rim and the spring. Perhaps a field expedient installation tool..?
