Hey all. I have been doing some research and am not finding the answer to my specific question so I figured I would ask here. I am wanting to get some smaller split tanks for my 98 fxstc and I am reading that there are a few different sizes of tanks that came on the evo softails but I am finding a lot of conflicting info. I am hearing from various sources that there were 3.5 gallon, 4.2 gallon, 5 gallon, and 5.2 gallon tanks on these bikes. Looking at the parts diagrams on the Harley website it only shows 3.5gal and 5gal tanks (at least that is all I have been able to find). In my 1997-1998 factory service manual it says the fxstc had 5.2 gallon tanks and all other models had 4.2 gallon tanks. So what's the deal? Are there three different sizes of evo softail split tanks? Or just two? 3.5gal, 4gal, and 5gal? or 3.5gal and 5gal? or 4.2gal and 5.2gal?
That is what my manual says as well. I have only filled up my tank once so far and I put in 4.6 gallons when I hit the reserve so that checks out. My main question is, what Evo softails (if any) came stock with 3.5gal tanks?
