In the process of a complete rebuild, my question is I want to replace the valve springs because theyre almost 30 years old and have 30 thousand plus miles on them. Im running an Andrews EV46 which says stock springs. Stock is 18201-83 18202-83. I only seem to find them used or I see 18206-06 but that is saying for high lift high rpm. Ive also seen the S&S conical valve spring kit, but it also is listed as high lift .585? So the question which one to get?
None. Nothing wrong with the ones that you have now. If you are really worried about them, then pull them and test them. 30k is nothing on a set of springs.
I'm running the 46 cam on a set of springs with 68k on them and nothing to worry about.
If you wanna go over.585 or so, then you can replace them for what you need.
If you just have to get rid of them, let me know and I'll take em off your hands.
My buddy who has a 10 second car and built his motor was the one who suggested replacing the springs because he said he replaces his after so many runs. But of course were talking racing vs street riding lol
I did but endplay with that spacer had no clearance at all.
I made a slip fit sprocket shaft to assemble it without pressing and I had clearance, however after pressing the bearings in place which I understand is a 2 thou press fit you lose 1.5-2 thou so I figured I’m pretty close I just need the next two sized spacers and it should do it. 🤞
