Well my shovelhead project is about done and time to move onto the next while waiting on a dyna title. I found a ‘97 fatboy 18,000 miles for $3500. I want to put a 19” tire on the front similar to the attached photo. Will a dyna spoked or mag wheel work? I do want a chopped rear fender as well. Are any parts becoming obsolete for these
evos?
I have a 95 Dyna and have had no issues finding parts when I need them. There are a few small items here and there that are obsolete, but the aftermarket has been very good for finding anything HD no longer carries.
I have a lot of old bikes, I have not come upon any one part I could not find either from HD, J&P, Vintage suppliers or the Bay. The Bay is a great source for older HD parts still in the package, know your part #'s and go searching, good luck.
anything is possible, I have a 2006 dyna with a 17" front wheel, but I also have a 19" wheel that I sometimes use, the thing is the 19" wheel is off a 1978 Z1000. at the end of the day you can get anything to fit.
my dyna with the Kawasaki wheel fitted.
I have a 19" on my 98 Fatboy but it was made for the FatBoy front end. I don't believe the hub width is the same on a dyna. The triple trees center to center is different from Wide glide @10" to Fatboy @9.5" and Super Glide @8" which would require shimming of either the caliper or rotor to properly center the rim and new spacers.. A 120/70-19 tire will still fit under the fender.

I'd be interested in seeing an up close pic of your shift linkage set up. How did you covert the forwards to mids?
Just FYI the FXSTC comes with a 19" front wheel so what you want to do should be fairly easy.
Not sure if you're committed to spokes but I have a set of rims (16 rear & 19 front) that I had powder coated a few years ago but decided not to use them.
Both use the tapered bearing of the EVO's.
A 1997 will be easier than an older one because it doesn't use a speedo drive. The narrowglide wheel wont be a problem to put on the Fatboy.
Put your wheel on the front end. Center it with a plumb Bob in the headlight hole. Then use pvc to make your wheel spacers. Once you have your wheel spacing set you will need to space the rotor outboard to center it in the caliper. Then you are done.
