Will adjustable push rods come out of a 1996 Dyna 80 without pulling the rockers? I want to get into the cam chest and oil pump, and I plan to go through the top end later, but I don't want to do that now. So since this is my first experience with adjustable rods, do they collapse enough to come out without pulling the rockers?
All I know is that I was told it has an Andrews cam (#27 likely?) and adjustable push rods.
Short answer: some do, some don't. Depends on what type of adjustable lifter was used and there is/was a bunch of different brands out there. Some are the "EZ" or "quickee" removal type. Some are just adjustable but not enough to remove I have no idea if there is a telltale way to check other than collapsing.
Long answer is for others who know more than me to chime in. I have the V-thunder "fast times" ones still in the package from a year or two ago just waiting for a reason to install them. Don't want to cut the stock ones and still no reason to take things apart...
If they don't, just set at TDC compression, remove the primary side rocker bolts and slide out the rocker spindle and then the rockers and you can pull the pushrods out from the top.
I actually have removed the pushrods, lifter blocks, lifters and camshaft with regular adjustable pushrods without having to cut them or remove/ loosen the rocker assemblies. If you want to get the quickies to reinstall so you don't have to take the top end apart I can guide you through taking apart the cam chest without doing any damage to nothing and once apart then you can reverse reinstall everything normally with the quickie pushrods..

If you are buying quikeez anyway, why do anything other than just cut them...seems like a lot of work?

This is the second post of yours in a row on this thread where you seem to be missing that some folks are going to go all the way around the house instead of just walking in the front door. LoL.
I'm guilty of it myself all the time. Working on something for two extra hours instead of doing it the simpler way.
