The rear section of the frame changed in 1997. It brought the seat height down ever so slightly, the battery box was enlarged and the front seat mount changed from tab to slot. I have a set of Rick Doss brand bag guard eliminators on my 95 but I don’t know what the part number is for them as I’ve had them on for about 12 years. I have another pair that I had on a 2012 Ultra Limited. They are slightly different, but the bends are the same and I think with a little work they could be made to fit. If I were a betting man I would say the ones you find for 97 through 08 would be even easier to make fit. Good luck with your project!
I have some on my '94 - they've been on it for 20+ years. If I remember correctly we had to get the rear fender hanger bracket for a street glide to attach them in the rear.
Some of the RK's have the double wrap around horizontal bar and a somewhat vertical bar- IA, you want to completely eliminate those - correct ? Mine is just a horizontal rail that the bag sits in with no vertical bar. This kind of bag look ?
We used to have some of them in the shop, I'll have to look around, I haven't seen them for a while but they could be buried somewhere.
Thanks for the link to the Drag Specialties big book
I'm not looking for the saddle bag supports but it's going to be a good resource for me to look up parts and pricing.
