Default Difference between Road King Rear Crash Bars?

I'm wanting to replace the rear crash bars on my 95 Road King with crash bar eliminators.

The part numbers for the bag supports remains the same for 94-98 but in 97 the crash bar number changes.

The only aftermarket eliminators I can find state they are for 97 and up.

As far as I can see, the crash bars appear to be identical for all of the EVO Road Kings. Does anyone know what changed in 97?

Thanks for any insight.

I’m not sure but there may have been a frame change in 97.
A lot of different parts are for 97-08 frames. Seats, bags, etc.

The rear section of the frame changed in 1997. It brought the seat height down ever so slightly, the battery box was enlarged and the front seat mount changed from tab to slot. I have a set of Rick Doss brand bag guard eliminators on my 95 but I don’t know what the part number is for them as I’ve had them on for about 12 years. I have another pair that I had on a 2012 Ultra Limited. They are slightly different, but the bends are the same and I think with a little work they could be made to fit. If I were a betting man I would say the ones you find for 97 through 08 would be even easier to make fit. Good luck with your project!

They make a comfort profile bar that doesn't press on her leg, it is kinda sloped along the top to make room.

I have some on my '94 - they've been on it for 20+ years. If I remember correctly we had to get the rear fender hanger bracket for a street glide to attach them in the rear.

Some of the RK's have the double wrap around horizontal bar and a somewhat vertical bar- IA, you want to completely eliminate those - correct ? Mine is just a horizontal rail that the bag sits in with no vertical bar. This kind of bag look ?

We used to have some of them in the shop, I'll have to look around, I haven't seen them for a while but they could be buried somewhere.

Check this page in the drag specialties "OldBook" catalog and I think you'll find the parts you need for the conversion.

The guy at the aftermarket shop I use found a set for me. Not specified for my year but they’ll work.

Thanks for the link to the Drag Specialties big book
I'm not looking for the saddle bag supports but it's going to be a good resource for me to look up parts and pricing.

There are 2 catalogs, the fat book for newer bikes and the old book for Evo and older. Not much in the fat book for Evo's.
