I have OEM shoulders but I dont think I could do apes even if I wanted to. The lower the better for me. Im actually trying to figure out how to lower the springer and keep tank clearance. Funny how we all hurt in different ways lol. This getting older thing is crap.
FWIW, there are so many different OEM buckhorns. The ones someone sent me years ago for my 79 FXS are way more comfortable than the ones that came on my 82 FXR and 98 Dyna.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. The ones on my buddies 99 Sportster and the ones on my 95 Dyna sucked. Wrist angle was all effed up.
First Step complete.. rigged up my own Vice with support and with some map gas I was able to heat the risers to pull in the ends of the Bars 3" on each side which give me a total of 26" on center.. OEM was 32".. Then again I heated them up at the Benz and I got 3" drop over to stock setup. The stock setup was at 90° to risers so this should work well and I'll get them cleaned up and powder coated.. Then I can throw them on.. It's getting there. By the way these are a 1/2" less drop than the ones I bent on my Dyna..
Remember "Necessity breeds Engineering, Not Ruubing" You know Rube Goldberg.. lol. Walla,10" Buckhorns..

The wrist angle of the bars is based on your front end line.. The risers on the bar should run parallel with the front fork tubes (in line with).. This sets the proper angle for the wrists..

Yes, but the later bars turn inwards more so your wrists are twisted. The earlier ones feel more natural.
